Fiji National Budget Decrease Allocation, Ministry of Fisheries Commends

TechInPacific – A reduction of Fiji’s National Budget for 2021-2022 is supported by the Ministry of Fisheries.

Commenting on the budget allocation, the minister, Semi Koroilavesau, said, “The Ministry has been allocated $13.1 million, with the provision of $9.7 million for operations and $2.8 million for capital expenditure. This is a reduction of $2.2m or 14% compared to the Ministry’s 2020-2021 budget of $15.3 million.

“Like most other Government agencies, the Ministry will endeavor to make the most out of this budget. This includes facilitating sustainable economic growth that economically empowers our people and national economy.”

The minister also acknowledges the importance of Fisheries and putting efforts to maintain the resourceful sector by innovative, smart, and holistic solutions that are aligned with sustainable development goals.
