PNG has mapped out its digital future.

The Digital Government Plans 2023-2027 for Papua New Guinea lays out the country’s goal for a digital future. It promises to improve public service delivery, give citizens more power, and encourage innovation across all sectors.

Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Timothy Masiu, when addressing the PITA conference in Port Moresby, said the government aims to create an inclusive and digitally empowered society through digital government services, skills development, and improved connectivity.

With the PNG Digital Transformation Policy 2020, the Digital Government Act 2022, and the National Cyber Security Centre, we have established a strong foundation for taking advantage of the digital age’s possibilities.

He said, “The world is changing quickly, and technology is changing how we live, work, and talk to each other.”

In the last six months of implementation, the piloted government Cloud Infrastructure runs the essential services for 27 government agencies. In addition, the National Cyber Security Centre is monitoring the networks and endpoint devices of 15 more government agencies.

The PITA Annual General Meeting and Business Forum Expo are great places to share information, meet new people, and make intelligent partnerships. “By working together in this way, we can tackle the problems, take advantage of the opportunities, and map out a way to a digitally resilient future,” Masiu said.
